Apartments in Castello, Venice
Lagoon-facing flats, homes with a terrace or a garden, and three-bedroom apartments for families, in the largest and quietest of the central sestieri. Eight to twelve minutes from the Piazza, hosted directly.
Castello is the eastern sestiere and the largest of the six, from the Riva degli Schiavoni, one bridge east of the Palazzo Ducale, to the Giardini della Biennale and the island of San Pietro.
It holds the Arsenale, the shipyard that built the Venetian fleet from the twelfth century, the campo of Santa Maria Formosa, and Via Garibaldi, the widest street in the city, cut in 1807. It is the sestiere where Venetians still outnumber visitors after dark, and it is where most of our apartments are.
Why stay in Castello
Space and quiet, at eight to twelve minutes from the Piazza. The western edge of Castello, around Santa Maria Formosa and Campo San Zaccaria, is as central as San Marco and a fraction as busy. The eastern half, along Via Garibaldi and towards the Giardini, is residential: bread shops, a daily market boat, the Biennale gardens for a morning run, and the lagoon on three sides.
The other reason is the Biennale. The Arte edition runs from spring to November in even years, the Architettura edition in odd years, and both fill the Giardini and the Arsenale, which are a short walk from our eastern apartments. The apartments
10 in CastelloOn the lagoon, Celestia Panoramic is a third-floor two-bedroom flat with a wide view over the water and the Celestia vaporetto stop at the door; Cà Monica is its two-bedroom neighbour at the same stop. Cà Magno is a canal-side two-bedroom home with two bathrooms and a private sauna. Cà Lorenzo has two bedrooms and a private terrace on the edge of Castello near Santa Maria Formosa, and Cà Raquel is a top-floor attic on the same campo.
For families and groups, Cà Gemma has three rooms and sleeps six, eight minutes from San Marco, and Cà Lavinia offers two suites with two bathrooms between the centre and Castello. Towards the Biennale, Cà Giulia sits between Via Garibaldi and the Giardini with a private garden, and Cà Donà is a top-floor flat near the Arsenale. Cà Vittoria is on the ground floor with an accessible entry, eight minutes on foot from the Piazza.

What a stay here costs
The nightly price is on each apartment page once the season’s rates are published, and on your confirmation for your exact dates. A direct request carries no platform service fee. The Venice city tax applies per person per night and is stated on the confirmation; our guide to the city tax has the amounts and the exemptions. Overnight guests do not pay the day-tripper access fee.

Arriving in Castello
From the airport, the Alilaguna Blue line stops at San Zaccaria and at the Arsenale, an hour and a quarter to an hour and a half; a water taxi reaches any canal in Castello in thirty minutes. From Santa Lucia station, lines 4.1 and 5.1 run along the northern lagoon to Celestia and Ospedale in about twenty-five minutes, and line 1 down the Grand Canal reaches San Zaccaria in about thirty-five.
